Within the context of lifelong learning, our challenge is to build the workforce the District needs both now and in the future to drive and sustain economic growth by removing barriers and raising aspirations.
Our flagship Education and Skills project, Inspiring the Forest, is designed to create a lasting impact on aspirations and opportunities for anyone looking to work within the district. The initiative brings businesses and education providers closer together for mutual benefit.
The Education and Skills sub-group is currently chaired by Julie Tegg, FEP Director and Director of Apprenticeships and Employment at Gloucestershire College.

Young Enterprise
In 2025/26 we are again offering Forest of Dean schools funding for either the Company Programme or Launch Pad sessions with Young Enterprise, a nationally recognised organisation that encourages independence and entrepreneurial sparks in young people. We often hear there is a strong appetite to work creatively and independently amongst young people, and through this funding we are aiming to target students who may not fit with traditional academic learning by tapping into that enterprising potential.
The funding has been offered to all Forest of Dean schools for the academic year 2025/26 and we'll provide updates in this space, our newsletter, at stakeholder meetings, and on social media.
